TRON Character Resource Center
line

The TRON Character Resource Center has been set up to oversee the collection and cataloging of character codes in the TRON Code set, being compiled in accord with the TAD (TRON Application Databus) data exchange protocol defined in the TRON Project. A further role of the Center is to promote awareness and use of these character resources.
The concept behind the TRON Code is to accommodate all the characters in the world by providing a code space with a capacity of 1.5 million characters. As of January 1, 2000, codes have been assigned to some 130,000 characters (including character parts and symbols). The TRON Character Resource Center is requesting information from the general public on characters that have not yet been incorporated in the TRON Code, so that codes can be assigned to them.
In keeping with the policy of open architecture central to the TRON Project, the TRON Code specification is an open one. Anyone who agrees with the TRON Charter is free to develop software components, free software, fonts or other products based on this specification. The TRON Character Resource Center will also publicize such products.
Note that developing products that implement TRON specifications involves certain legal conditions applicable to the developer. Please confirm the conditions for using this specification before proceeding with any development project.

The TRON Character Resource Center operates with the cooperation of the University of Tokyo's Sakamura Laboratory and Personal Media Corporation.
Personal Media's BTRON3-specification OS "Ultra Kanji", running on DOS/V personal computers, makes available the 130,000 characters for which TRON Code assignments have already been made.
